Top police officer's car catches fire in capital city

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The official car of a high-ranking police officer caught fire while in motion in Vellayambalam. The incident occurred in the evening near the Vellayambalam signal. The Mahindra Scorpio vehicle belonging to Special Branch Deputy Commandant Sujith was engulfed in flames. Fortunately, only the driver was inside the vehicle at the time of the incident. The fire started at the front of the car as it was making a turn from the museum side towards Kowdiar. Subsequently, the driver stopped the car and quickly fled as the vehicle became fully engulfed in flames. The fire was triggered by a leakage of AC gas.

A response team, led by Grade Assistant Station Officer S. Jayakumar from the Thiruvananthapuram fire station, and consisting of Chandran A, Justin SE, Sanith RS and Sarath R successfully extinguished the fire.
