Father who set ablaze his son and family dies

THRISSUR: A man, who killed his son and grandson by setting them ablaze in Chirakkekode, has died. Chirakkekode native Johnson (67) had consumed poison after setting his son's family on fire. He died while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Thrissur. Johnson set his son and his family ablaze following a family dispute. His son's wife Liji is still undergoing treatment.

The incident took place at around 12.30 a.m. last Thursday. Johnson had been living with his wife, son, and son's family. The accused poured petrol on his sleeping son and his family and set them on fire after locking his wife in the room in the middle of the night. He then went out. It was the neighbors rushed the three to the hospital after seeing smoke coming from the house. Later, Johnson was found lying unconscious after consuming poison. Johnson was a security guard. His son Joji is a lorry driver.
