THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that five districts in Kerala are likely to receive heavy rain in the next three hours. IMD stated that isolated places in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Ernakulam, and Thrissur districts are likely to receive light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning. The meteorological department also warned that gusty winds reaching 30-40 kmph are very likely in these districts in the coming hours.

Meanwhile, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Research Center stated there is a possibility of 1.7- to 2.0-meter-high waves and tidal surge along the Kerala coast. Fishermen and people living along the coasts have been asked to exercise caution.
