Dr Vandana Das murder: Departmental inquiry ordered against ASIs

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: It has been found that there were serious lapses on the part of the police in the incident where Dr. Vandana Das was murdered at the Kottarakkara Taluk Hospital. Thiruvananthapuram Range DIG R Nishanthini has ordered a departmental inquiry against the two ASIs. The action has been taken against ASIs Baby Mohan and Manilal. It was found that the policemen fled for their own safety during the attack by the accused.

The policemen did not take action to subdue the violent accused. They violated the rule of not looking after one's own safety to protect people's lives. The DIG also found that the policemen tarnished the reputation of the police force by running away from the crime scene.
