16-year-old commits suicide after receiving message asking him to pay huge amount as fine for watching movie on laptop

KOZHIKODE: A 16-year-old boy committed suicide after he received a fake message warning him of legal action for watching a movie on his laptop. The deceased has been identified as Chevayoor native Adinath. The boy received the fake message in the name of the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB).

Adinath was watching a movie on his laptop when he received the message in the name of NCRB. The message warned him that failing to pay a fine of Rs 33,000 would result in legal action. The boy's family approached the police alleging that online fraud groups were responsible for the boy's death.

The family received the hint about the fake message from the suicide note written by the boy. In his suicide note, the boy wrote that he received a message stating that the police had registered a case against him for watching movies illegally and that he would have to serve a jail term if he failed to pay the fine. The police have launched an investigation into the incident.

Upon examining the laptop, the police found a message from a website that stated that the boy would have to remain in jail for several years if he failed to pay the fine. The Cyber Police have also initiated an investigation into the incident.
