THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert in four districts in Kerala as the state continues to experience heavy rain. While an Orange alert was sounded in Thiruvananthapuram, Alappuzha, Kannur, and Kasargod, a yellow alert was sounded in the other 10 districts.
IMD stated that isolated places in Kerala are likely to receive heavy rain accompanied by thunder and lightning from September 29 to October 1. The meteorological department also warned that gusty winds reaching 30-40 kmph are very likely in the state in the coming hours. The rainfall gained strength following the formation of twin depressions over the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal. Heavy rain will continue in the state for the next five days.
