Woman commits suicide by setting herself, children on fire; her father dies after trying to save them

CHENNAI: A woman and her two daughters committed suicide by setting themselves on fire in Tamil Nadu. The woman's father also died of burns while trying to save them. The said woman held her two daughters close and set them on fire. The deceased have been identified as M Draviyam, a resident of Villupuram, his three and five year old children and his father Ponnurangam. The woman's brothers who tried to save them were injured. The incident happened on Friday night.

The woman has been staying away from her husband for two years and lives in her own house with her children. Her husband Mudurai Veeran had come to their house that night to decide on her return. While the woman's father and brothers were talking to him in front of the house, the woman held her children and set them on fire.
