THRIPUNITHURA: A sudden raid by the food safety department brought out the noxious condition of a bakery functioning in Thripunithura on Tuesday. Following a complaint forwarded to the Medical Officer of the Family Health Center, a quick search was conducted at Arena Bakery which was operating in Udayamperoor junction. The search was conducted during midnoon hours of Tuesday and the food safety officer ordered to shut the bakery after many irregularities were found.

According to the report from the food safety department, the bakery never had a license or health card to begin with. The drinking water inspection report and waste management system were also missing in the search which made the officials close the shop without any second thoughts.

Some food samples were taken for testing while most of the stale food found was destroyed by the officials.

“The bakery should rectify their errors and the condition should be made on par with the standards proposed by the food safety department. If all these are met, the bakery will have the chance to function again” said the food safety officer.

FSO Vimala Mathew, Office Asst. Dhanya, Medical Officer in Charge Dr Savitri led the team that conducted the sudden inspection.
