Food poisoning yet again; 11 people admitted to hospital after eating burger and chicken roll from bakery

VELLARADA: 11 people who ate burgers and chicken rolls from a bakery in Amboori Junction were admitted to the hospital due to food poisoning. All 11 persons had eaten food items from Sancho Bakery in Amboori. They were rushed to the hospital after they complained of vomiting and diarrhoea.

The bakery owner and his wife also suffered food poisoning. Those who ate burgers and chicken rolls from the bakery on October 24 started experiencing health issues from the 25th. Koottappu native Sreedharan Nair (65), who is in critical condition, is undergoing treatment at the Karakonam Medical College. Amboori natives Lisa Jacob, Noil Jacob, and Neetu Thomas are undergoing treatment at the Amboori Neyyar Medicity. The rest sought treatment at the Amboori Primary Health Centre.

Upon learning about the incident, the health department officials reached the spot and took action. Food safety authorities reached the spot from Parassala and sealed the bakery on Thursday. Food safety officials collected chicken dishes from the bakery for testing. Officials said they did not receive chicken burgers to collect the sample.
