THRISSUR: A BSF jawan, Martin Thomas (39) was injured while attempting to board the Rapti Sagar Express at platform number 1 of Thrissur railway station at 11:10 am on Thursday. Thomas, hailing from Alappuzha Edutva Kodupuna, Alappuzha was traveling from Chhattisgarh to Alappuzha when the incident occurred.

Thomas disembarked briefly at Thrissur station for a cup of tea. Unfortunately, as he returned the train began moving. In an attempt to catch the train, Thomas got entangled in the wires and struggled to jump onto the moving train. Acting swiftly, the Railway Sub-Inspector (RPF), Intish, stationed at Thrissur ran alongside the train and managed to save Thomas by grasping him firmly.

Passengers alarmed by the commotion pulled the emergency chain stopping the train after it had traveled approximately 30 meters. Thomas sustained a knee injury and was promptly taken to the District General Hospital for initial treatment. Fortunately, his injuries were deemed non-serious and he was discharged after receiving medical care.

Thomas, who was on a 20-day vacation, had a fortunate escape from a potentially tragic accident. Intish, an experienced railway employee with 25 years of service, recently assumed duties as a sub-inspector at Thrissur station three months ago. His quick action in saving the passenger's life led to a felicitation ceremony organized by Railway Inspector Ajayakumar to honor Intish's bravery and prompt response in averting a possible disaster.
