MUMBAI: Acclaimed Bollywood director Sanjay Gadhvi (56) passed away on Sunday putting Bollywood in disbelief. Heart attack is the cause of death. Gadhvi gained immense fame for directing the famous 'Dhoom' franchise movies. Sanjina Gadhvi, daughter of the director informed about her father’s passing.
Sanjay Gadhvi's first film was 'Tere Liye' released in 2000. However, the movie failed at the box office and had a dismal run at theatres. In 2002, Gadhvi tasted success for the first time by directing the blockbuster ‘Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai’. In 2004, Gadhvi rose to instant fame with the pan-Indian success of the funky road thriller ‘Dhoom’. The movie starring Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham and Uday Chopra then broke all erstwhile records in Bollywood.
In 2006, Dhoom-2 was released and turned out to be a bigger success than its prequel. After the release of ‘Ajab Gazabb Love’ in 2012, he took a short break from films. Later, in 2020, he directed a film called ‘Operation Parindey’, his last film.
According to his daughter Sanjina, her father was perfectly healthy and had no health alerting health issues. The heart attack came out of nowhere.
