COIMBATORE: The owner will give a letter to the RTO office demanding the release of the Robin Bus, taken into custody by Gandhipuram RTO in Tamil Nadu for violating permit. The letter will be given to Gandhipuram RT office. The Robin Bus, which resumed service the other day after a legal battle, was seized by the Motor Vehicle Department in Kerala on the second day and fined Rs 7500. Tamil Nadu imposed a heavy fine on the bus citing violation of permit.
The bus seized on Sunday was shifted to Gandhipuram central office. The passengers of this bus supposed to reach Coimbatore by noon, were taken to Walayar by a Tamil Nadu bus and then to Pathanamthitta by a bus arranged by the bus owner Girish. As it was holiday on Sunday, the vehicle will be released only after the director of motor vehicle arrives today and takes further action.
The bus owner accused Tamil Nadu of playing a connivance with the Kerala government as the verdict on Robin Bus' permit will be pronounced on Tuesday. The bus was seized based on a call from Kerala. Girish, the bus owner stated that the authorities informed that they will release the bus only after payment of fine. It is alleged that the RTO authorities did not specify exactly what the violation was. Meantime, the high court will consider today the plea of KSRTC demanding that the vehicles operating on nationalized routes on the basis of All India Permit should be controlled. This plea is mainly against Robin Bus.
