Twin cyclonic circulations: Kerala to receive heavy rainfall from Wednesday onwards, alert issued in these districts

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that rain will gain strength in Kerala from Wednesday. The state is likely to receive heavy rainfall due to the influence of the twin cyclonic circulations. As a result, isolated places in Pathanamthitta and Idukki districts will receive heavy rainfall on Wednesday. Following the warning, an orange alert has been issued in these districts on the 22nd. An orange alert has been announced in Idukki district on Thursday as well.

The cyclonic circulation is located over the Comorin region and in the southwest Bay of Bengal. As a result of this, the Meteorological Department has predicted rain accompanied by thunder and lightning in Kerala for the next five days. IMD has forecasted that rain will gain strength from Tuesday. Isolated places in Ernakulam, Idukki, Palakkad and Malappuram districts are likely to receive heavy rain on Tuesday.
