Welfare pensions of four categories increased to Rs.1600

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Finance Minister KN Balagopal announced that it has been decided to increase the welfare pensions of four categories to Rs 1,600. Increases have been made to the pensions granted to ailing sportspersons, artists and circus performers as well as Viswakarmajar. These people will receive the revised amounts from December. Artists used to get Rs 1000 as welfare pensions while sportspersons received Rs 1300. Meanwhile, circus performers and Viswakarmajar used to receive Rs 1200 and Rs 1400 respectively.

The other day, the wages of Anganwadi and Asha employees' were increased by up to Rs.1000. 88,977 people will get the benefit. The current salary of Anganwadi workers and helpers who have worked for more than ten years has been raised by Rs 1000. Others will receive a raise of Rs 500.
