THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM State Secretary MV Govindan staunchly defended Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan affirming his integrity and dismissing corruption allegations. In a recent press conference Govindan likened Pinarayi Vijayan to the sun emphasizing that attempting to malign him would result in consequences akin to getting burnt.
Addressing the issue of gold smuggling at the airport, Govindan shifted responsibility to central agencies asserting that the matter falls beyond the state's jurisdiction. He refuted claims implicating Kerala Police in the arrests related to gold smuggling placing the onus solely on the Centre.
Regarding the inauguration of the Ram temple, Govindan highlighted the CPM's decision to abstain from participation while criticizing the Congress for not clarifying its stance. He urged the Congress to recognize the BJP's utilization of the temple construction for political gains maintaining that the Congress should refrain from a communal stance.
Govindan further criticized the BJP's tactics in Kerala asserting that the party's attempts at communal polarization would not yield electoral success. He highlighted BJP's failure to win parliamentary seats in Kerala and accused the party of exploiting sensitive issues for political advantage.
Govindan concluded by admonishing the BJP for discussing women's safety during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Kerala while highlighting prevailing attacks against women nationwide.
