Senior BJP leader O Rajagopal said the media misinterpreted his statement about Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor. The leader said yesterday that Tharoor has won the hearts of voters of Thiruvananthapuram and it would be very hard for anyone to beat him in the constituency. Rajagopal said that he wished people in Thiruvananthapuram continue to get the service of Tharoor. When the incident stoked a controversy, the leader came forward with an explanation that in the performance of the Modi government, there is a chance for the BJP to win in Thiruvananthapuram if the party workers work hard, and the fact that Tharoor's presence in the constituency is nominal at present will adversely affect his chances.

His words
‘Rajaopal said the media misinterpreted his statement on Tharoor at the award function of N Ramachandran foundation in the capital city yesterday. I meant about a winner more than once. However, in the changed political situation and with the efficiency of the Narendra Modi government, if the party workers work hard, there is a situation for the BJP to win in Thiruvananthapuram. Moreover, the fact that Tharoor's presence in the constituency is only nominal at present will adversely affect his chances. As a person from Palakkad, the speech is only a rhetorical expression of opinion... My personal and political stand is that the BJP will win in Thiruvananthapuram this time....'

Rajagopal was speaking at the award function of N Ramachandran Foundation. Rajagopal was Tharoor's opponent in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. The world has approved the glory of Tharoor. He had the eligibility to reach the United Nations. He was able to influence the minds of the people of Thiruvananthapuram and that is why he is winning constantly. After his speech, Tharoor showed respect to him by touching his feet.
