BENGALURU: A young man and woman suffered injuries after a six-member gang broke into their room inside a lodge in Karanataka's Hangal region. The two teenagers were from different religions which incensed the gang. The incident took place on January 7 at a lodge in Hangal taluk of Haveri district.

The accused themselves filmed the video of attacking the young woman and her male friend. The assailants first knocked on the door and waited in silence. When the door was opened, the group entered inside forcibly and the young woman could be seen hiding her face in fear.

Some men from the group can be seen slapping the girl. Her male friend tried to run away but was caught by the gang. Throughout the video, the gang is heard hurling expletives at the two teenagers. Another video has also surfaced which appears to have been filmed outside the lodge. In the video, the woman desperately tries to cover her face with the hijab, while the men try to lift the hijab to show her face.

After the incident, the two teenagers filed a complaint at the Hangal police station. Based on the complaint, the police arrested six people. The accused have been charged with attempted murder and defamation of a woman.
