THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The internal vigilance wing of the department is investigating inter-district transfers in violation of rules in the civil supplies department. The Civil Supplies Commissioner has issued an order appointing the vigilance officer of the department as the investigating officer. The report should be submitted within one month.
The secretary of the food department had instructed to investigate and submit a report following the complaint that a pro-CPI organization leader in the department had been transferred illegally.
The government order states that a person appointed in a district can be allowed inter-district transfer only after completion of 5 years. Only the Cabinet has the power to grant special relaxation in this. This relaxation can also be granted to those going on deputation from Food and Public Distribution Department to Supplyco.
Meanwhile, the organization leader wrote to the commissioner alleging that the complaint against him was due to personal enmity. It is indicated in the letter that the transfer to the Civil Supplies Department headquarters was granted based on an application given due to medical needs in Thiruvananthapuram.
