30-hour delay of Delhi-San Francisco flight; Air India with apology and travel vouchers worth Rs 29,203

NEW DELHI: Air India has given vouchers to passengers in the event of a 30-hour delay in the Delhi-San Francisco flight due to a technical glitch. Air India has issued travel vouchers worth USD 350 (Rs 29,203) to the passengers. Vouchers can be used for subsequent Air India journeys. For non-travellers, the facility of using it as cash has also been provided. Air India also apologized to the passengers for the flight delay. The flight, which was scheduled to depart at 3.30 pm on Thursday, left for San Francisco at 9.55 pm on Friday. There were 199 passengers.

Meanwhile, the Vistara flight which took off from Paris to Mumbai made an emergency landing in Mumbai today following a bomb threat. This is the third plane in a week to make an emergency landing following a threat. ​The bomb threat was for flight UK 024 which took off from Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris. An emergency landing was made at Mumbai Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport at 10.19 am. There were 294 passengers and 12 crew members on board. The airport authorities said that the message was fake and nothing suspicious was found during the inspection of the plane.

Chennai airport received another bomb threat. Officials said this is the second fake threat in a week. A Chennai-Mumbai IndiGo flight had made an emergency landing in Mumbai recently following a bomb threat. The passengers were quickly evacuated and searched but nothing suspicious was found.
