Abdul Jabbar sentenced to 56 years for assaulting 11-year-old Quran student

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Abdul Jabbar (61 years old), accused in the case of assaulting an 11-year-old boy who had gone to study the Quran, was sentenced to 56 years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 75,000. Thiruvananthapuram High Speed Special Court Judge R. Rekha ruled. The fine should be paid to the child.

The incident related to the case took place between October 2020 and January 2021. The child, a fifth standard student, used to go to the house of the accused to study Quran. Aafter making the other children sit in the hall of the house to write, only the child was called to another room of the house and assaulted continuously. An obscene video was also shown on the mobile phone. The child protested many times but the accused did not take into consideration. The boy did not tell anyone because the accused threatened to kill him if he told the truth.

Finally, when the family said that the child's younger brother should also be taken to study at the accused's house, the child did not agree. Then, when the family forced him to take his younger brother with him, the child revealed the details of the abuse. The court said in its verdict that the accused who assaulted the eleven year old does not deserve any mercy.

Separate public prosecutor RS Vijay Mohan appeared for the prosecution. The prosecution examined 21 witnesses, produced 23 documents and 5 exhibits. Pothancode police officers VS Ajeesh, D Gopi and Shyam K investigated the case.
