Deadline of works over, still it is impossible to even walk on roads in T'puram

roads

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The work of ten smart roads under construction in the state capital is yet to be completed. The deadline announced by V Sivankutty, who is also a minister from the capital city, will end on June 15. It is not as if the construction of the roads will be completed anytime soon. Even walking is impossible on many roads.

Due to road construction and ongoing construction of drains, people are unable to leave their homes in many places. Residents of the capital city have been struggling on the streets for months as the roads could not be completed before the rainy season. Many roads have been closed for months due to construction works. Due to this, even the pocket roads of the capital are experiencing heavy traffic jams.

After the floods occurred in many places during the summer rains, the municipality started constructing drains and cleaning the existing ones. The authorities are facing severe public anger in this regard. With the opening of schools, traffic jams are severe in many places during school hours.

Over Bridge- Uppidammood Road, part of General Hospital Junction - Vanchiyoor Road, Thycaud Shastha Temple Road, Chala Kothuval Street Road and Bakery Forest Office Road are impossible to commute even on foot. On other roads where the work is said to be complete, only the first phase of tarring has been completed.
