BARBADOS: Team India won the Twenty20 World Cup again after a gap of 17 years. The Indian boys once again became the champions in the Twenty20 cricket after defeating South Africa for seven runs in the last over at the match held in Kensington Oval Ground in Barbados.
The video shared by ICC shows captain Rohit Sharma eating some sand from the pitch on which India won the final and it is going viral on social media. The ICC shared the video of it on their official Instagram page and has been captioned ‘one for the memories’.
India won the toss and batted first. They scored 176 runs losing seven wickets in 20 overs. South Africa could score only 169 runs at the loss of eight wickets.
India won the cup without losing in any of the matches in the tournament. After winning the toss and batting, India lost wickets in the beginning. Despite the loss, Virat Kohli came into form at the right time taking 76 off 59 balls and this was decisive for the Indian win. Axar Patel (47 off 31 balls), Shivam Dubey (27 off 16 balls) also made a crucial contribution. Keshav Maharaj and Anrich Nortje of South Africa took two wickets each.
Heinrich Klaasen scored half-century in 23 balls. He scored 52 runs including five fours and two sixes in 27 balls. Quinton de Kock (39), Tristan Stubbs (31), David Miller (21) also shone. Hardik Pandya took three wickets for India, Bumrah and Arshdeep took two wickets each.
India became the champions of the Twenty20 World Cup for the second time. In the first edition of Twenty-20 World Cup in 2007, they became champions in the team led by Dhoni after defeating Pakistan in the last ball. In 2014, they reached the finals but lost to Sri Lanka.
