KOZHIKODE: Following its much-hyped launch recently, the Navakerala bus service was stopped on Wednesday and Thursday due to a lack of passengers. This is a bus running from Kozhikode to Bengaluru. KSRTC informed that the services on Wednesday and Thursday were cancelled as there wasn't even a single booking.

The bus which carried a delegation of ministers including Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan participating in the Navakerala Sadas organized by the state government started service on the Kozhikode-Bengaluru route on May 5.

The bus service not being popular among the bus commuters will be a matter of pride for the state government. It is also likely that the opposition will bring this up and use it as a weapon. Therefore, Minister Ganesh Kumar may directly intervene in the matter.

The air-conditioned bus has 26 push-back seats. The ticket price is Rs 1171 inclusive of cess. The bus has facilities like a toilet, hydraulic lift, washbasin, television, music system, mobile charger ports, and luggage storage capabilities.

The service was started without changing the colour or body of the bus during its run for the Navakerala Yatra. The chair used by the Chief Minister was changed into a double seat. The officials hoped that the service would be very helpful to the passengers as there are few KSRTC AC buses on the Kozhikode-Bengaluru route.
