THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Dispute between Corporation and Railways regarding the cleaning of Amayizhanchan canal. Additional Divisional Railway Manager (ADRM) Viji MR rejected Mayor Arya Rajendran's allegation that there was a failure on the part of the Railways in cleaning the canal.

The position of the Railways is that the Corporation is responsible for cleaning the canal on the Railway side. The Railways rejected the Mayor's allegation that despite the Corporation sending a letter seeking permission to clean the tunnel passing under the railway tracks, the Railways did not respond. Railway says that they have not received any letter from the corporation regarding this. The Railways clarified that the Mayor's claim that the permission was not given despite asking for it is a complete lie and that there will be no obstacle for the Corporation to clear the tunnel in the future.

Meanwhile, the mayor said that the railways is responsible for removing the garbage below the pitline. "The argument that the railways are disposing of solid waste on their own is not true. If they are doing so, let them prove it in front of the Municipal Corporation. The investigation conducted yesterday showed that the railways are depositing solid waste in the tunnel. In the future, the railways will have to answer about the waste management," replied Arya Rajendran.
