Actress Bhama posted a story on Instagram recently, urging women not to marry anyone by giving money, which led to interpretations that she was advising against marriage altogether. Bhama has now clarified her message in a new Facebook story.
"The other day, I wrote about the consequences of dowry marriages: the pressure of asking for money after marriage, living in fear in a house with threats to one's life and dealing with this while having a baby. This is what I was trying to convey. It means that you should not marry those who demand dowry. It does not mean that women should not marry," Bhama wrote in her new Facebook post.
Her original story read: "Do us women need marriage? No woman should marry after giving her money to anyone. What if they leave you? They will take your money and your life. A woman should never marry without knowing how those who come into your life will treat you. Leave as soon as possible from a place where your life is at risk."
