Legendary actor Mammootty, in an exemplary act, wore a shirt that was designed by Jesfer Kottakunnu, who is suffering from muscular dystrophy and is paralyzed from the neck down. Jesfer designed the shirt by holding his paintbrush between his teeth.
After Jesfer's story came out, praises flew in for Mammootty on social media. Now, producer and actor Arun Narayan took to Facebook and shared a picture of Mammootty wearing the same shirt and posing with him. He said that it was taken during a meeting with Mammootty as part of a project. He said that the veteran actor was in his costume directed by Gautham Menon and when he asked him to take a photo, he quickly changed into the shirt, that has gone viral.
"The other day I had a chance to meet Mamookka to discuss a project. I felt that I should share an incident that happened there. Mamookka was at the location for the new film directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon. Apart from the discussion on the project, he asked about 'Thalavan' and said he liked the movie. At the time, he was dressed up in the role of the character for the film. After talking to him, before leaving, I shared that I would like to take a photo with him. He immediately got up and called George Ettan to change the shirt. He told George Ettan to get that white shirt. I didn't really understand what he said.
So Mammookka changed his shirt and put on that white shirt and before taking the photo, he told me about the person who gave that shirt to him. He said it was a shirt designed by Jesfer Kottakunnu, whose paralyzed due to a special disease, by holding a paintbrush in his mouth and that the gift was very precious to him. He also added that he will pose for photos wearing that shirt, and that shirt might become a bit more popular. Then this photo was clicked.
When I heard that, I felt that my respect and admiration for him increased again. For more than 40 years, he has remained a megastar, or legend, not just because he was a great actor, but because he had such an attitude and humanity. A big salute to him who, when someone like me asks for a photo, changes out of his clothes, remembers this shirt and also the person who gave it to him and tells me that," Arun Narayan captioned the photo.
