NEW DELHI: The first budget of the third Modi government has included certain schemes; sure to bring relief to commoners in the country. Solar projects have been announced for more than one crore houses. The government went ahead with this move taking into consideration, the good response received for Prime Minister Surya Ghar Mufti Bijili project. A total of 1.28 crore registrations and 14 lakh applications have already been received under this scheme, which helps reduce the electricity rates.
The scheme is designed to provide significant financial relief to ordinary households by harnessing solar energy. By installing solar panels on the roof, households can save at least Rs 15,000 to Rs 18,000 annually. On another note, the new scheme will also pave the way for more job opportunities for youths possessing technical skills in solar panel installation and maintenance.
Under the solar scheme, the subsidy to homeowners ranges from Rs 9,000 to Rs 18,000 per kilowatt. Rs 2.20 Lakh to Rs 3.5 Lakh required for solar installation of 3 KW to 5 KW can be paid in instalments akin to paying monthly electricity bills.
