CHANDIGARH: Security has been beefed up in Pathankot district in Punjab after the police received information that around seven suspected people were seen at Phangtoli village in Pathankot district on Wednesday. The army and the police jointly intensified the security in the district after the security personnel discovered footprints believed to be those of the suspects in the village during a search conducted based on the information.
Police have released a sketch of one of the suspects based on the description provided by an eyewitness. Those who receive information about him have been advised to inform the police.
According to the police, seven people came to a house in the village at night and asked for water. They disappeared into the forest after drinking the water. People in the house informed the police after they got suspicious that the men were involved in some kind of terrorist activity.
The police are conducting an investigation focusing on the footprints found in the village. More forces have been deployed in the region in view of the 2016 Pathankot terror attack. The security forces said that they have intensified the search for terrorists based on the sketch.
