Popular Tamil news anchor Sowndarya Amudhamozhi passes away

CHENNAI: Sowndarya Amudhamozhi, a news anchor of a leading channel in Tamil Nadu, passed away on Saturday after a long battle with cancer. Photos taken during her treatment time have already gone viral across social media. With more than 80,000 Instagram followers, Sowndarya was known for her fluent Tamil dialect which helped her turn a popular face across Tamil Nadu.

In May, she requested medical help through a social media post and received help from various sections of society. Television Management had sanctioned Rs 5.51 lakh from Tamil News Readers Association while Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin allowed Rs 50 lakh. It was amidst this that the death came unexpectedly.
