Two people including DYFI leader killed in accident in Kalavoor

ALAPPUZHA: Two people, including a DYFI leader, were killed after a speeding car crashed into a coconut tree in Marankulangara in Alappuzha on Sunday night. The deceased have been identified as DYFI Mararikkulam Area Secretary and Block Panchayat member R Rajeesh and DYFI activist Ananthu. The accident took place in the Preethikulangara area in Kalavoor at around 9.30 pm on Sunday. Others injured in the accident have been admitted to the Vandanam Medical College Hospital.

Eyewitnesses said that the deceased and injured were taken out of the car by cutting the vehicle open. The speeding car went out of control and crashed into a coconut tree on the roadside. The front portion of the car was completely destroyed. The condition of the injured persons is said to be serious.
