THRISSUR: With rains continuing unabated and causing serious damages, the authorities have declared a holiday for educational institutions in three districts tomorrow. The district administrations have declared a holiday for all educational institutions, including professional colleges, in Thrissur, Palakkad and Wayanad districts on Tuesday (30-7-2024).

The holiday will be applicable to all educational institutions, including anganwadis, nurseries, Kendriya Vidyalayas, CBSE and ICSE schools, professional colleges and tuition centres. However, the holiday will not apply to residential schools. The Thrissur District Collector said that public and university exams will take place as scheduled. Four shutters of Peechi Dam in Thrissur were opened today due to heavy rain.

Meanwhile, the IMD has warned that isolated places in Malappuram, Kozhikode, Idukki, Ernakulam, Wayanad and Kannur districts would receive moderate or heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds gushing up to a speed of 40 kmph in the next three hours.

An orange alert has been issued in Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur, Wayanad and Kasargod districts in the wake of heavy rains. The IMD forecasted that isolated places in these districts are likely to receive extremely heavy rains.
