Thiruvananthapuram airgun firing: Shini shot for enmity with her husband; lady doctor arrested from Kollam

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Suspect arrested in Thiruvananthapuram airgun firing incident in which a woman was injured. Deepti, a doctor working at a private medical college in Kollam, was arrested. She was caught from Kollam. It is reported that an issue between Shini's husband and Deepti was the reason for the shooting. The suspect committed the attack using a gun purchased online.

The incident took place around 8:30 am on Sunday. The accused reached Shini's house in Thiruvananthapuram and attacked her. In the detailed investigation conducted by the police, it became clear that Deepti was behind the attack. Later, the police arrived in Kollam and took her into custody this evening. Covering her face, Deepti reached Thiruvananthapuram disguised as a person delivering a courier. Shini (40) residing at Pankaj, CRA 125B, Chempakassery Lane, Perunthanni, West Fort was shot at 8.30 am.

Shini was admitted to a private hospital with an injury to her right hand. The pellet was surgically removed. Shini's health condition is satisfactory. Shini had told the police that she had no enemies. However, from the beginning, the police had said that someone who had a grudge against Shini and her family was behind the crime. When Deepti, who covered her head and face, rang the calling bell, it was Bhaskaran Nair, Shini's father-in-law, who opened the door. She asked Bhaskaran Nair to call Shini as it was a registered letter.

As Shini reached the doorstep of the house, Deepti held out the paper to be signed on top of the long courier envelope. As Shini was about to sign, Deepti took out an air pistol from her jeans pocket. Shini was shot in the palm when she stopped it. Shini and the family screamed in shock. After firing two shots at the wall, Deepti ran out, got into a car parked on the road and escaped in the meanwhile.
