Emergency medical aid for people rescued; oxygen ambulance to be arranged in Chooralmala

WAYANAD: The ministerial-level meeting convened Wednesday morning at the collectorate decided to take steps to provide emergency medical aid to those rescued from the landslides in Meppadi Mundakkai and Chooralmala.


A medical point including an oxygen ambulance will be provided at the control room at Chooralmala. A senior officer will be appointed to coordinate matters here. It was also decided in the meeting to appoint enough doctors and other health workers.

Cooperation Minister V N Vasavan informed that a doctors’ team from four cooperative hospitals including Kozhikode and Thalassery are willing to come. Revenue Minister K Rajan clarified that arrangements will be made to supply water at the point where the trapped people are rescued and brought through the bridge. A health team will also be appointed here.

The revenue minister also said that sufficient light will be provided from the place where the JCB is placed to the control room in Chooralmala. The minister added that the quick delivery of Aska lamps from Kozhikode and other places for the rescue operation on Tuesday was very helpful.

The meeting was attended by Ministers P A Muhammad Riyas, A K Saseendran, V Abdurahiman, K Krishnankutty, G R Anil, O R Kelu, special officer coordinating the rescue operation Seeram Sambasivarao and ADM K Devaki.
