Landslide repeats in Kozhikode Vilangad; district collector and team trapped

KOZHIKODE: Landslide repeats at Vilangad Nadapuram Kozhikode. Another landslide happened in Adichippara, where there was a landslide earlier. Strong water current is continuing in the Manjakunnu river area. No casualty has been reported. The landslide happened when Kozhikode Collector Snehil Kumar Singh, EK Vijayan MLA and others were visiting the place. The collector and his team were stuck at the spot for half an hour. They were rescued by the rescue team.

The landslide that occurred at Vilangad recently was similar to the one that happened in Wayanad. Casualties were avoided because people were vigilant. It is reported that landslides occurred nine times. 13 houses were destroyed completely and several houses were partially destroyed by water. The accident took place around 5.45 pm when debris including stones and soil slid down. The search for Mathew Kalathil, who went missing in the previous day's landslide, is still going on. Mathew fell into the water flow during a rescue operation.
