Born in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, Nadar started HCL Technologies in 1976, initially focusing on manufacturing calculators and microprocessors before pivoting to IT. For 40 years, he led the company through numerous challenges, establishing it as one of the world's leading IT firms with offices in sixty countries. In July 2020, he stepped down as chairman, passing the torch to his daughter, Roshni Nadar, making her the first woman to chair a listed Indian IT company. A year later, he also vacated the managing director position.
