THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Considering the rush of passengers, the Railways has allotted a special train to Kerala. A special train service will be run from Mangalore to Thiruvananthapuram on August 3 and 4. The special service is from Mangaluru to Thiruvananthapuram Kochuveli Railway Station. Train (06041) departing Mangaluru at 7.30 pm on Saturday will reach Kochuveli at 8 am on Sunday.
The return journey is on Sunday 4th August. Train (06042) leaving Kochuveli at 6.40 pm will reach Mangaluru at 7 am on Monday. The special service has been arranged in an efficient manner for those travelling to and from the Malabar region and South Kerala. The train will have eight sleeper coaches and seven second-class general coaches. There will be no AC coaches.
The special train has stops at Mangalore, Kasaragod, Kanhangad, Payyannur, Kannur, Thalassery, Kozhikode, Tirur, Shornur, Thrissur, Aluva, Ernakulam Junction, Alappuzha, Kayamkulam, Kollam and Kochuveli. Weekend trains to and from Malabar are packed. Three trains run daily from Thiruvananthapuram to Mangaluru and back but this will not suffice during holidays.
