Essential items collected from Thiruvananthapuram will be handed over to victims, says Tharoor MP

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Shashi Tharoor MP will hand over the essential items collected from Thiruvananthapuram for the landslide victims in Wayanad to Kalpetta MLA T Siddique.

The essential items will be delivered to Kalpetta Collection Centre as a token of love from Thiruvananthapuram for the people of Meppadi suffering from the biggest natural disaster Kerala has seen.

Tharoor will then visit the devastated areas in Meppadi. He will visit the relief camp in Meppadi Govt Higher School and other places. He will later visit the injured victims in WIMS Hospital.

Meantime, the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation donated Rs 2 crore to the chief minister’s relief fund. Apart from that, Mayor Arya Rajendran has donated her one month’s honorarium and sitting fees of Rs 17,550 to the relief fund. She handed over the cheque of Rs 2 crore to the chief minister at his office. Corporation secretary Jahangir S and deputy mayor P K Raju accompanied her.
