KALPETTA: Three people trapped in Soochipara were rescued heroically on Saturday. Sali, Riaz and Muhsin, natives of Malappuram, got stuck on a rock near Soochipara and it is reported that two of them suffered leg injuries. One among them crossed the river and swam across to the other side.

Both of the injured youths were airlifted from the site. After providing medical aid, all three will be taken to Meppadi police station. The police team braved the high-flowing river to make a heroic rescue operation that gave back life to the trio.

On Friday evening, the gang crossed the Chaliyar River and reached Soochipara through the forest. Despite succeeding in crossing the dangerous Chaliyar river, the team got stuck in the forest and had to hang on to the cliffs for the whole part of the night.
