Beware, weather in Kerala is not so good; six districts on alert

THIRUVANNATHAPURAM: Reports said there will be widespread rain all over the state. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has informed that there is a possibility of heavy rain at isolated places. The IMD said there will be moderate rain at isolated places and gusty winds of up to 40 kmph in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram and Kozhikode in the next three hours; The IMD has informed that there is a possibility of light rain at isolated places in other districts.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Research Center has informed that there is a possibility of high waves of 1.9 to 2.5 meters along the Kerala coast till 11.30 pm tomorrow.


Kottayam, Idukki, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod will be on yellow alert today. Although no severe and very severe rain warnings have been issued, in these districts should be on alert. A chance of isolated heavy rain has been predicted. Heavy rains mean rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm in 24 hours. Yellow alert has been sounded in Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod tomorrow.


A low-pressure is prevailing from central Kerala to south Gujarat coast. Monsoons are also active and rains are as a result of these influences.
