Warning of rain and strong winds in two districts, six districts on yellow alert

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has given a warning of rain in various places in the state today. The IMD informed that there will be moderate rain at isolated places in Kollam and Alappuzha in the next three hours with gusty winds of up to 50 kmph. The IMD informed that Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod are likely to experience light rain at isolated places and strong winds with a speed of up to 40 kmph.

The IMD has issued yellow alert in Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod today. Chances of isolated heavy rains are predicted at these places. Heavy rain refers to rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm in 24 hours.

There is a warning that a low-pressure area is located from North Kerala coast to South Gujarat coast. An extreme low pressure is located over North East Madhya Pradesh and South Uttar Pradesh. Another depression is located over southwest Rajasthan and Pakistan. As a result of this, the IMD informed that there is a possibility of heavy rain in isolated places in Kerala today.
