SHIRUR: A decomposed body was found floating almost 60 km away from Shirur in Aghanashini on Tuesday. The Gangavali river converges with the sea in Aghanashini and some fishermen spotted the body floating in the sea. With news coming out about the incident, Arjun’s family demanded an immediate DNA test to confirm the identity of the body.
The family also shared details regarding Arjun with diving expert Eshwar Malpe, who will reach the spot in the coming hours. However, the police will not jump into DNA tests and will have to follow certain other procedures. Recently, a fisherman in the area went missing so the police will have to summon other fishermen in the locality to identify the body. It will only be after this procedure that and move for a DNA test will be made.
Eshwar Malpe confirmed that the presence of a thick bracelet on the hand of the dead body. The missing fisherman in the area is an Odisha native. As per initial reports, police believe the body to be not that of Arjun. The travel from Shirur to Aghanashini will take almost one hour and there is a feeble chance for the body to reach such a long distance from Shirur. The district administration has also informed Arjun’s family about the incident and will send a photo of the dead body for the family to take note and identify if possible.
