DHAKA: Awami League party leaders are being brutally killed while their family members hunted down as Bangladesh slowly stoops into anarchy following the exile of PM Sheikh Hasina. It is reported that the dead bodies of 29 people, including leaders and family members, were recovered during the inspection conducted on Tuesday.
It seems like a hit list is being prepared and the members later hunted down. The houses and business firms of Awami league leaders were looted and burnt. 11 people lenient towards the Awami party were killed brutally in Comilla. In another case, six people died of asphyxiation after the attackers set fire to the three-storey house of former councillor Muhammad Shah Alam.
Seeing the violent mob, the family members climbed to the upper floor and escaped. The family had a few members with weapons on the ground floor to guard the house. The mob set fire to the ground floor of the house and all the six members died of asphyxiation from the smoke.
Awami League leader's hotel was also set on fire by the mob. 24 people, including foreigners, were burned to death here. The incident took place in Jessore district on Monday night.
Many people were seriously injured in the mob attack. The injured people have not reached hospitals but are still in hiding fear of further attack from the mob.
