Missing persons in Wayanad landslide; draft list out; website for public to check list of missing persons

KALPETTA: The district administration has undertaken an unprecedented operation to identify the missing persons in the landslide area.

Panchayat, Labor Department, Health Department, Police, Anganwadi workers, Asha workers and public representatives joined hands for information collection and investigation. Many documents were codified. The draft list of missing persons was prepared after three days of hard work.

Assistant Collector S Gautam Raj led the data collection. Ration card information of wards 10, 11 and 12 of Meppadi panchayat was collected. Information of children was obtained from Vellarmala Govt Vocational Higher Secondary School, Mundakkai GLP School and ICDS. The records of migrant workers were collected from the labour office. All this was considered as the baseline.

The draft list of 138 people was released first. 130 people are currently on the list after corrections. The list will be revised based on information received from the public and identification of dead bodies. Those who are confirmed dead will be removed from the list when the DNA test results come in.

Report missing persons

1. The draft list contains the ration card number, address, name of relatives, relationship with the addressee, phone number and picture.
