KALPETTA: The fire brigade while conducting the search operation in the disaster-stricken Chooralmala, found a plastic cover filled with Indian currency notes. The mud-smeared currency notes are estimated to be worth Rs four lakhs.

The plastic cover was found in the crevice of rocks in the area. Seven bundles of five hundred rupees and five bundles of one hundred rupees were received. The fire department said the money would be handed to the revenue department. Earlier, gold ornaments were also recovered from the spot.

Meanwhile, the search for the missing persons will continue in the coming days. 118 people are still missing following the nightmarish landslides that erased the village two weeks back. Yesterday, NDRF, Fire Force, Civil Defence, Police, Forest Department and volunteers searched the disaster area. They also searched in locations shown by the kin of victims.

No body parts were found on Wednesday’s search while a 60-member team searched five kilometres from Munderi Farm to Parappanpara. So far 231 bodies and 221 bodies have been recovered.
