Veteran actress Urvashi expressed her happiness after receiving the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actress, marking her sixth win. Reflecting on the honor, she stated, "I don’t act with the expectation of winning awards. For me, the director's feedback is the first award, and the audience's appreciation is just as valuable."
Urvashi also praised fellow actress Parvathy, acknowledging her performance, "Parvathy’s acting was exceptional. We were able to deliver such strong performances because we were acting opposite each other."
Recalling the challenges faced during the film’s production, Urvashi shared, "The film was shot under difficult conditions, with scenes being filmed in water from morning till evening. I told the director that I couldn’t keep crying on cue for 44 days of shooting. He simply told me to do what I felt was right. It was challenging to portray crying without actually shedding tears and by the 40th day, I was physically exhausted."
She continued, "Looking back now, I can’t imagine going through that experience again. Cristo Tommy, the director, is like a brother to me. There were moments when I told him I couldn’t act and for that, I apologize. I’m very sorry, Cristo. This award truly belongs to him."
This latest accolade adds to Urvashi's illustrious career, with previous Kerala State Film Awards for Best Actress in 1989, 1990, 1991, 1995 and 2006. In 2006, she also received the National Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in 'Achuvinte Amma'. Additionally, Urvashi has won the Tamil Nadu State Government's Best Actress Award twice and the Filmfare Award eight times.
