NEW DELHI: The nationwide protests staged by doctors, against the incident where a young lady doctor was raped and murdered in Kolkata, have intensified. In Delhi, a protest march led by the Indian Medical Association (IMA) and other organizations defied police restrictions and converged at Jantar Mantar.
The IMA has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, highlighting five key concerns in the case. In its letter, the IMA demanded central legislation to protect healthcare workers from violence and declare hospitals as safe zones.
