THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The big wait to see their beloved daughter will soon end for the Assam couple settled in Kazhakuttam. Father Anwar Hussain and mother Parveen Begum will have a tough time controlling emotions as Tasmidh is set to reach Thiruvananthapuram by Sunday night.
It was on Tuesday that 13-year-old Tasmidh left home with Rs 50 and travelled 1,650 km alone, after quarrelling with her mother. A four-member police team headed by Kazhakuttam SI Ranjith arrived at around 6:30 pm in Vishakapatnam. The team then reached the children's home at Visakha Valley near Visakhapatnam.
When the women police officers informed about the return journey, happiness filled the child's face. However, the joy was short-lived as the child feared the thought of getting beaten by her mother and resultantly, tears welled her eyes. The police assured her that wouldn’t happen and gave her a promise about joining the school.
The child then expressed her desire to see her parents. She communicated with the police in Hindi.
Aiming for her native Assam, she boarded the Tambaram-Santragachi Express from Thiruvananthapuram to Kanyakumari and from there to Chennai but was rescued by Malayali Association workers in Visakhapatnam. Malayali association workers N.M. Pillai and ARG Unnithan were present when Kerala police reached the spot.
The police team will start their return journey with the child on Saturday afternoon. First, they will head towards Vijayawada and then to Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala Express. Kerala C.W.C's letter to hand over the child was completed but a special request was made to accommodate the child in the protection house for one more day.
