CHANDIGARH: The assembly election polling and counting dates in Haryana have been changed from October 1 to October 5. The counting of votes will be held on October 8. The decision was made keeping in mind the traditional festival of the Bishnoi sect.

There will be no change in the previously announced dates for the assembly election in Jammu and Kashmir. The counting of votes is on October 8 along with Haryana. Ever since the announcement of elections in Haryana, Bishnoi factions and various political parties have been demanding a revised election date.

Voting in Jammu and Kashmir will be done in three phases. The first phase of the election will be held on September 18. The second phase will be held on September 25 and the final phase on October 1. The polling will be conducted in a single phase in Haryana.
