DHAKA: Violence against minority Hindus is reportedly on the rise in Bangladesh after the ouster of Sheikh Hasina from power. Conditions are not favourable for teachers to continue in work. Many people were forced to resign from their jobs. Many such incidents are being reported. Such incidents are coming out while the current government is repeating that it will protect all the rights of minorities and they will not face any problems.
At least 50 Hindu teachers have had to resign since Sheikh Hasina's exit. Resignation letters are obtained from many people by threatening to kill them and threatening them with weapons. Some teachers were forced to sign on blank white papers so that resignation applications could be written on them later. Shukla Rani Halder, principal of Bakerganj College, Barisal, was surrounded and threatened by students, colleagues and outsiders to write a resignation letter. Her office was vandalized. The incident happened two days ago. She wrote and signed that she was resigning when the threat lasted for hours and she had no other option.
On the 18th of last month, more than fifty students of a government-owned girls' school in Asimpur surrounded the headmistress and demanded the resignation of some of the teachers. The head teacher says that there was no other way but to obey them. The group insulted her too.
Many people, including media workers, have lost their lives for supporting the former government. Many officers of the previous government were killed due to severe abuse. Some are still missing.
