THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Dean of Kerala Agricultural University Vellanikkara Forestry College and son of famous novelist E Vasu, Dr E V Anoop (55) was found dead after being hit by a train on Sunday. The dead body was found on the railway track near Munnammanakal temple in Thiruvananthapuram at 6 am on Sunday.
Anoop reached the family home in Ootukuzhy late on Saturday night from Thrissur to visit his ailing father now undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the city. It is reported that locals saw Anoop, who had left his house early on Sunday morning, walking on the railway track in the area.
A case of unnatural death has been registered. The cremation will be held at 11 am today at Shantikavadam in Thycaud. Anoop leaves behind his mother CS Padmini, wife Renuka Vijayan and children Arjun Anoop and Anjana Anoop. Siblings: EV Manoj and EV Manjusha.
Anoop, a professor at the University of Agriculture since 1994, took over as Dean in 2021. He was also the head of the Forest Product and Utilization Department. He is a nationally recognized expert in the fields of wood anatomy, timber identification, wood quality evaluation and dendrochronology.
